U'8 Lions Match Reports League U'8 Lions: Shoebury Youth 3 Ashingdon Youth 4

toppers writes "SHOEBURY LIONS YOUTH 3-4 ASHINGDON YOUTH

Well, better late than never they say!! I must apologise for the delay with this report but it was a particularly hard one to write as defeat never comes easy.
The morning of the match started a little bleary eyed, being Mothers Day. All us Mums were obviously bloated from our 'full english' that our husbands and children had prepared for us!! Yes-I thought it was funny too!! The Referee had been awoken at dawn by his kids and we were all feeling the loss of the hour as British Summer Time begins!! Have I missed it??!!
It was a rather crucial game for us, deciding whether we would end up being 2nd or 3rd in the league. We gave it our best shot on the day but victory eluded us I'm afraid. There were alot of disappointed faces after the match and my heart went out to all the boys.

Well, this is how the action panned out:-
The boys were feeling tense and the action began with a good header by M.Ali. However, what went wrong for Shoebury I don't know but Ashingdon sunk a goal from a corner within the first five minutes.
The team recovering, T.Cannon managed to manoeuvre and run putting in a good kick. Forcing a corner T.Cannon took it but it was saved. Hearts were beating fast as we were desperate to score. B.Langton showed poise and skill, being the first to the ball following a goal kick. He headered the ball well. Another player to header the ball well was M.Ali. He produced a good defensive header in the box, following that up with a fantastic run down the line passing to forward, H.Badger but the ball went out of play. M.Ali had another couple of good touches and showed good forward thinking as striker H.Badger once again came on the scene. The Ashingdon goalie went towards the ball to retain but H.Badger stole it from under his nose desperately trying to manoeuvre and shoot. Alas it was not to be as the ball went off.
M.Tonking passed well in midfield, trying to create chances again for the strikers but luck wasn't going our way. T.Cannon made an excellent tackle and our goalie, L.Popplewell made a great save. A.Topley had a run from defense, passing to B.Harris, who turned and kicked the ball in the box. Out of play again and awarded a corner, M.Tonking curled the ball into the mass of bodies in the box. Unfortunately for Ashingdon it was an own goal. The half time whistle blew with the score at 1-1.

Second half and again good football by B.Langton. He put in a good tackle and A.Topley defensively played safe. N.Watson, our goalie of the second half executed a superb save but Ashingdon came back with another goal. The pressure was on again. M.Ali headered a lovely ball to T.Cannon who had a go at a long shot but it went wide. A.Topley put in a good tackle and J.Bowie did some nifty footwork to pass down the line. Action in midfield set up a ball for M.Tonking and he in true fighting spirit sunk the ball into the top right hand corner of the net. First class and a fantastic goal and we were evens stevens again!!
N.Watson again saved well as Ashingdon tried to up the tempo but it was a throw in by B.Harris into B.Langton that caused a stir as it skimmed the crossbar. What more could happen now? The sheer desperation could be seen on the boys faces-could we sink another? Well, I think the whole intensity of the game had taken its toll. Play resumed but Ashingdon pushed hard and were rewarded with a further two goals in a matter of minutes. However that didn't dampen our spirits, true fighters til the end. We passed well setting up a ball for B.Langton who lifted our spirits with a cracking goal just minutes before the final whistle blew.
It had been a 'white knuckle' game and Ashingdon had been great opposition. Victory had eluded us this time but everyone had tried so very hard.

Half time score 1-1
Full time score 3-4

P.Tonking, Lions Manager said after the match,"Well played. It was a great game. Ashingdon scored two good goals to finish. We've had a brilliant season and on this occasion I'm not going to award a Man of the Match as you all played well."

A.Ali, Assistant Manager also said"Individually, you've all played fantastically. We can only take it on to next season. Well done to all the boys."

Well guys, thats the last match report of the season. I hope some of my reports have given people an insight if they missed our matches and have been entertaining as well. As a humble parent I've enjoyed writing them and I apologise now if I've offended anyone along the way!!
All that remains for me on behalf of all the parents and the boys is to thank our Manager, P.Tonking and our Assistant Manager, A.Ali for all their time, hard work and PATIENCE throughout the season. We look forward to the next."

U'8 Lions Match Reports League U'8 Lions: Shoebury Youth 1 Trinity Juniors 1

toppers writes "In the bleak midwinter springs to mind-it was absolutely 'taters' at footie today. Our boys did extremely well to play in such extreme weather conditions. A win would have been nice bearing in mind our position in the table but that ball just wasn't going in!! Great respect goes to the Trinity goalie who did an absolutely fabulous job and had a great game.

TRINITY YOUTH 1-1 SHOEBURY YOUTH LIONS

The action started with us playing against the force 10 gale!! The boys did well to battle against the weather and it was very hard to estimate where the ball was going next! B.Langton put in a good opening tackle and M.Tonking had a good run. M.Ali crossed a super ball (left-footed, I believe) into the box but unfortunately no-one could get to it in time. M.Tonking also executed a fantastic cross but yes you've guessed it, the superb Trinity goalie was able to retain. A.Topley covered well in defence and kicked to safety if needed.

Our goalie, N.Watson made a great save from a Trinity free kick and A.Topley read the game well, heading the ball infront of him before kicking it off to safety. Trio, B.Langton, M.Tonking and J.Bowie showed their passing ability and J.Bowie had a shot that Trinity retained. B.Langton put in some good tackles and M.Tonking made a great block in midfield. M.Ali also tackled well and the boys were trying very hard.

M.Tonking took a corner that unfortunately for us hit the side netting. T.Cannon blocked well in defence and read the game well as always. J.Bowie sought out M.Ali who chipped the ball towards the goal but again Trinity saved! T.Cannon made a good tackle and M.Tonking had a super run, passing into B.Langton. Trinity managed to steal but B.Langton tackled again showing his strength. Trinity increased the pace and had a shot at goal. Our goalie, N.Watson did extremely well to kick the ball out in a rather 'hairy' moment. T.Cannon showed great skill in bypassing his marker and defended well. That rounds up the action for the first half.

Second half and the wind behind us! B.Langton had a lovely run and M.Ali put in a good tackle. T.Cannon had a great long shot that hit the side netting. Trinity made a break and our goalie, L.Popplewell tried hard but the ball just bobbled over the line. Our recent sub, H.Badger had a great first touch followed by a shot that went wide. A.Topley did well, making a run from defense and had a shot but 'Supergoalie' saved again. M.Tonking also had a shot that was retained and B.Langton had a shot that went wide. The wind was really strong and it was very hard to judge speed and distance.

B.Langton put in a good header controlling the ball and passing into striker H.Badger. He did well to position and had a shot but that ball just wasn't going in! Within seconds he had another shot set up by M.Ali but again the same story. The game was so frustrating to watch with lots of Shoebury supporters 'willing' the ball over the line. Time was rapidly running out and although we had lots of opportunities that goalie was just too damn good!! T.Cannon had a shot in sheer desperation and it only just went out. We were pulling out all the stops, all hands on deck!! There was extreme pressure around the goal with a sea of legs and boots. Would we get a result?? H.Badger skilfully managed to get a boot to it and at last a Shoebury goal was born!!! HOORAY!!! Extremely well done to H.Badger for making our day in the final minutes.

Half time score 0-0
Full time score 1-1

P.Tonking, Lions Manager said" Well done to all the boys. We totally dominated the game and Trinity were only able to have two shots at goal. The Trinity goalkeeper was excellent and the weather made it a very frustrating game. Well done and congratulations goes to H.Badger for a superb goal. This weeks Man of the Match goes to a boy who kept the game going, that being B.Langton. Very well done to him."

It was an excellent game but I have to admit I was glad to get in out of the cold. I felt for the Ref who had two more games to go!!! "

U'12 Match Reports League U'12s: Rayleigh Boys 3 Shoebury Youth 7

dozzy writes "(Sorry, but I am behind with submitting match reports. I will start here with the latest and try to catch up with the missing ones -'Dozzy')

This match was played on 20.2.06 and saw the boys keep up their impressive record. The scoreline, however, does not tell the whole story.

On a muddy pitch we made an early breakthrough via R.Sadler (0-1), but after a quarter of an hour Rayleigh were deservedly level when they outran our defence (1-1).

Rayleigh's defence pushed up at every opportunity to frustrate our forwards who were caught offside repeatedly. They broke forward with pace and only a string of excellent saves by J.Fasham kept us in the game.

23 minutes gone and a B.Black free-kick was saved but the rebound was planted firmly in the net by D.Marchant (1-2). Two minutes later and M.Whitaker ran down he left, found B.Black who took his time and fired in (1-3). Before half-time he added another (1-4) with excellent turn and shot in the box.

H-T: Rayleigh 1 Shoebury 4

The second half began with J.Fasham again making an important save. M.Whitaker was again the provider for R.Sadler who lifted his shot into the net (1-5).

Rayleigh continued to counter with speed in their attacks and were rewarded after 37 minutes when they pulled back another goal (2-5).

J.Fasham yet again produced a blinding save. Rayleigh were awarded a penalty after 47 minutes but were thwarted when J.Fasham made a superb double save following the spot kick.

Rayleigh broke through once more (3-5) to make the last five minutes tense. B.Black calmed things down by completing his hat-trick (3-6) with a couple of minutes to go, before A.Nice rounded things off (3-7) with an excellent shot high into the net.

F-T: Rayleigh 3 - Shoebury 7

Today's performance was not so convincing, and our passing game never really got going. All credit to Rayleigh, though, whose tactics nearly paid off. Our forwards, when not straying offside, always seemed confident that they could score, but they had to thank our keeper today for keeping them in the game.

Man of the Match: J.Fasham. He was the only candidate today. Someone counted that he saved 9 shots that looked certain goals and made that double penalty save."

toppers writes "Well, better late than never!! Its been a hectic week and deciphering my notes from this match has proved difficult (my notepad looked like a tye and dye piece of material after all that rain!!) Anyway I've done my best.

SHOEBURY YOUTH LIONS 3-1 CONCORD RANGERS

Kick off and in the starting minutes M.Tonking put in a good header and T.Cannon played the ball well to safety. B.Langton put in some lovely crosses. One he received from M.Tonking he passed back, repositioned to receive again and had a cracking shot but alas it was saved. Moments later he had another great run and a further shot. He was on top form today. M.Ali read the game well and also put in a lovely cross into the box but no-one could make contact.

Both M.Tonking and B.Langton tackled well and A.Topley exercised his defending skills playing safe when necessary. Another goal opportunity arose when B.Langton made a break having a superb run and shot at goal. The ball rebounded and he was poised ready to clear up having another shot but the goalie got a hand to it.

Further action came from J.Bowie. He was in the box prepared for an incoming corner(don't ask me who took the corner as its illegible!! sorry!!). He headed a blinding shot that went over the crossbar. Our first goal infact came from M.Tonking. He had a shot and it just crossed the line. So lucky.Well done. Our second goal came from trio M.Ali, H.Badger and M.Tonking. M.Ali passed into H.Badger who sought out M.Tonking. He inturn passed back to H.Badger and WHALLOP goal number 2. Well done Mr Badger.

There was passing and tackling extraordinaire, a real feast for the eyes. Hang on, whats happening now? A bit of competition by the Ref. He's gone down in true Robben style!! (talk about follow your idols, Nige!!)

More good passing from M.Ali allowed B.Langton to have a further shot. A.Topley made a good clearance in the box and H.Badger made a break and had a good run and shot wide. Passing was good between B.Langton, M.Tonking and M.Ali and we were showing real teamwork. A.Topley had a good run showing off his skills before passing to M.Tonking. M.Tonking executed a great cross to H.Badger who shot but again it was wide.

The second half started with passing between T.Cannon and B.Langton and a shot by B.Langton that Concord managed to save(this was about his 7th shot of the match, pure perseverance by this boy). He also did a lovely header and H.Badger had another shot that was a fraction wide. M.Ali showed good control and J.Bowie put in a good tackle. M.Ali took a corner, could it be goal number 3? The ball rebounded but M.Ali had managed to reposition, making contact and smashing the ball into the top left hand corner of the net. What a corker!! Rooney style!!

J.Bowie took a lovely fast corner and there was a kerfuffle in the box but Concord managed to save it. A.Topley had a run into the box and shot but it rebounded and went off. T.Cannon made some super tackles and was reading the game well. N.Watson showed his skill on the pitch as well as his usual in goal and did some good passing. A.Topley passed a quick ball down the line to H.Badger who shot but again Concord made contact. L.Popplewell made a good save near the post as Concorde applied pressure. N.Watson passed well down the line and also put in some well read tackles. J.Bowie had a great run and crossed the ball and M.Ali put in a high shot that was saved.

Concorde made a break and managed to score making the score 3-1. Trio N.Watson, H.Badger and J.Bowie passed well and J.Bowie shot again but our opponents retained. L.Popplewell made his second save of the match. Well done.

The game was in the final minutes. H.Badger put in a great shot that the goalie body blocked. T.Cannon executed an excellent tackle in the closing seconds.

Half time score 2-0
Full time score 3-1

P.Tonking, Lions Manager said after the game" It was a great game of brilliant football. We were looking after each other and the football was great. B.Langton was a close second for this weeks Man of the Match but it has to go today to M.Ali for his magnificent goal. Well done"

Well that rounds up the action for this week. All I need to do on behalf of the team is to wish B.Harris a very speedy recovery as he is injured at present. Take it easy mate. "

toppers writes "The sun has got his hat on,
No more snow or rain today!
We've not got twenty layers on
As we play at Hawkwell today!!

A splendid sunny and warm morn as we wend our way to Hawkwell Athletic ground. We're second in the table and a win would be great to maintain our position. Our previous match against Hawkwell proved that they aren't a pushover so anything could happen.......

HAWKWELL ATHLETIC 0-2 SHOEBURY LIONS YOUTH

T.Cannon put in a good tackle in the opening minutes. B.Harris had a fine run and executed a lovely ball straight across the goal mouth. Unlucky!

Shoebury were applying good pressure. B.Langton got his head to a lovely ball in midfield and defender A.Topley made a run from defense. J.Bowie took advantage of an opportunity and made a good run and T.Cannon intercepted the opposition well. B.Langton had a super shot at goal which was just centimetres wide. Striker, J.Bowie showed poise and speed when taking corners and delivered good, hard crosses.

H.Badger seized the opportunity and had a shot but Hawkwell were able to make the save. He also had a further run which was followed by a good touch by B.Langton but the half time whistle stopped play.

N.Watson, our goalie was prepared and poised for action but very little had come his way in this half!!

The second half opened with another great header by B.Langton. T.Cannon showed good presence stepping in when required. A.Topley defended well heading a looming ball out of the box. B.Langton put in a good cross to J.Bowie but it over run. B.Harris, J.Bowie and B.Langton were all involved in applying extreme pressure in the box but the ball just wasn't going in!

A substitution resulted in more action in midfield. M.Tonking put in a lovely pass to H.Badger who shot but it was saved. T.Cannon played well and M.Tonking took a cracking corner that hit the side netting. B.Langton planted a lovely pass to B.Harris and M.Tonking again took a splendid corner.

Hawkwell picked up their pace and went on the attack. Defender, A.Topley headed a great shot off the line stopping Hawkwell from scoring. B.Langton passed well to B.Harris who did a lovely touch back. B.Langton passed to striker J.Bowie who fired a great ball into the goal. Crespo style! What a goal!

B.Harris had a further shot that was wide and our goalie, L.Popplewell took an impressive goal kick.

M.Tonking again crossed a superb ball towards the goal, J.Bowie getting a great touch to it planting his second goal of the match. Well done.

B.Langton continued to be very strong in midfield and full time confirmed that we had won a very hard game. Credit goes to the opposition who had played well and hosted a fair, clean match.

Half time score 0-0
Full time score 0-2

P.Tonking,Lions Manager said after the match "Hawkwell deserved alot of credit and battled well. It was a hard game and we played great football-fantastic to watch. This weeks Man of the Match goes to Captain, A.Topley for reading the game well and playing the captains role. He stayed back when necessary even though it is very tempting to get drawn towards the ball instead of maintaining position. J.Bowie came a close second for his two fantastic goals and everyone played extremely well".

Well, too much excitement isn't good for the heart so I'm off for a lie down. Relaxing with a wine glass in one hand helps to bring the heart rate back to normal-well thats my excuse!!"

  U'12 Match Reports League U'12s: Benfleet Villa 'B' 2 Shoebury Youth 4

dozzy writes "On 29.1.06 we were involved in a thriller at the Villa. A chilly wind and a sloping pitch meant it was difficult for both teams.

It was our turn first to play uphill with the wind against us. Benfleet began with a fast attack. J.Fasham in goal was quickly out to smother the ball.

We struggled for long periods in the first half to even get the ball out of our own half. R.Sadler managed to relieve the pressure for a while when he attacked down the left. After 7 minutes, however, Benfleet made a deserved breakthrough with a well taken goal (1-0).

T.Marsden proved to be a good outlet for us today, and he forced a corner following a strong run. Benfleet countered with a swift attack.

T.Marsden produced a moment of skill right in front of us by the touchline to get out of a tight spot and leave several opponents bewildered. I'm still not quite sure what he did or how he did it !

After 13 minutes Benfleet doubled their lead when a ball over the top beat our defence which they ran on to and put away (2-0).

J.Fasham made another good save before we eventually managed to put a better move together when B.Black combined with T.Marsden and R.Sadler. M.Whitaker was coming more into the game with his strong runs, one of which ended with B.Black having a shot saved. A.Nice linked with R.Sadler forcing a corner on 22 minutes.

Benfleet continued to be a threat and, luckily for us, an unmarked player shot wide. We ended the half well with B.Black providing a good cross but there was no one there to finish.

We limited the first half deficit to just two goals which, in the end, proved to be just enough.

H-T: Benfleet 2 Shoebury 0

Although we were now playing downhill with the wind behind us it was Benfleet who started the better. Again they had an unmarked man who shot wide.

It took us time to make use of the factors now on our side. If in any doubt before we now knew we had a game on our hands. I don't think we had been behind before in a league game this season, so it was to be a good test of character for us against a team who pushed us all the way and nearly some more.

Villa forced a free kick on the edge of our box but it was well defended. At the other end T.Marsden made another good run but shot over.

7 minutes into the half and B.Black was in a good position in their box. He tried to make himself some more room for a shot but in doing so found himself surrounded by more defenders. He simply would not let the ball be wrestled away from him, like a dog clinging onto his favourite slipper, and eventually found enough space to fire his shot away into the net (2-1).

This gave us hope and we now started to apply some pressure. R.Sadler produced a good cross but B.Black had his shot blocked. M.Whitaker also set up the same player but this time Benfleet's keeper saved at his feet.

Benfleet were still able to counter and J.Fasham in goal still had to be alert.

Only ten minutes to go when A. Kelly released B.Black with an excellent ball. He showed his undoubted pace beating a defender to the ball before making an accomplished finish to level the scores (2-2). (This was an important goal in the context of the match, but only afterwards did I realise that it was in fact our 100th goal in the league this season! Some feat, so well done to all the lads, manager and coach for entertaining us with an attacking brand of football!)

We now sensed we could grab all the points and with just four minutes to go A.Suddell challenged for a ball in the middle. It broke nicely for B.Black who completed his hat-trick (2-3).

We survived one last corner from Benfleet before T.Marsden made an excellent run and unselfishly squared the ball for R.Sadler who simply could not miss (2-4) right on 60 minutes.

Into added time now and B.Lingard still had to make an interception to put the ball safely into touch. One final scare when Benfleet unluckily hit the bar.

F-T: Benfleet 2 Shoebury 4

An entertaining game, between two well matched teams, played again in a good spirit. We eventually came out on top, but only after being tested all the way. A testament to the character of this team. Everyone stuck to the task today and played their part, those others not mentioned previously being D.Marchant, A.Yates and M.Lappage.

Man of the Match: B.Black. Has been knocking on the door for several weeks for this award. Scored a priceless second half hat-trick.

U'12 Match Reports League U'12s: Dons Academy 4 Shoebury Youth 6

dozzy writes "On 22.1.06 we were so very nearly taught a lesson at the 'Academy'. We came through in the end to our credit, but at one stage an upset looked on the cards.

We began well enough, applying plenty of pressure on the Dons' defence. We made an early breakthrough thanks to B.Black when he put the ball away following a good attack (0-1). Today we came up against a well organised defence, but T.Marsden put B.Black through again with a slide-rule pass. He crashed it in for his second (0-2).

Our dominance continued and T.Marsden made a run which ended in his shot being cleared off the line. The Dons always managed to get men back quickly and began to frustrate our attack. R.Sadler made a cross which was volleyed just wide by J.Robertson after 14 minutes.

Following a corner A.Yates had an effort cleared off the line but R.Sadler followed up to slot the ball away (0-3). A.Yates was indeed unlucky today not to get on the score sheet again.

Dons' keeper started to excel when he made an excellent save from T.Marsden's long range dipping shot. He soon produced another reaction save.

22 minutes gone and Dons took a quick throw to an unmarked man who coolly slid the ball past our keeper (1-3).

Five minutes later they caught us out at the back again to bring it back closer (2-3). Just before half-time, however, J.Robertson unleashed a cross-shot into the far corner to give us breathing space (2-4).

H-T: Dons Academy 2 Shoebury Youth 4

The second half started with a fast break by the Dons who shot just wide. D.Marchant combined well with T.Marsden down the left, and five minutes into the half B.Black had an effort thwarted by their superb keeper.

At the other end A.Kelly was quickly out to save at an attacker's feet. 41 minutes gone and the Academy broke down the left past our defence and pulled it back close again (3-4). They began to find their confidence and with a long lofted shot soon brought it back all square (4-4).

Dons now seemed the more likely to go on and win it from here, but with 7 minutes to go A.Suddell found B.Black in a good position. He held the ball up well before firing in to complete his hat-trick (4-5).

T.Marsden slotted in a deserved goal before the end (4-6) to complete what was our narrowest league victory this season thus far.

A.Suddell helped relieve some final pressure by running a ball out of defence. The Dons' keeper was quickly out to deny M.Lappage just before the final whistle.

F-T: Dons Academy 4 Shoebury Youth 6

Despite our first half opportunities that were either missed or denied, today we were lucky to win in the end. Our manager said that Dons showed us too much respect at the start and once they realised they could win they nearly did. To our boys' credit they kept going to the end, never losing their own belief.

'We began fishing for salmon but nearly ended up catching a crab.'

Man of the Match: A.Suddell. For playing today in an unfavoured position in defence, and for realising he was needed there for the greater good of the team.

U'8 Pumas Match Reports League U'8 Pumas: Shoebury Youth 2 Hamlet Court Lions 1

It was freezing with a very cold wind blowing across the pitch, the boys looked great in their new kit (Thank you Ascension Securities Limited)....just need the tracksuits now !

A very exciting first half with some excellent saves from goalie D.Kilkelly, chances at both ends. An unfortunate penalty to Hamlet Court Lions just before half time. D. Kilkelly managed to get his hands to the ball but somehow it got past him making the score 0-1 at half time.

The second half bought a great goal and his first of the season to K.Robbins.....a really strong accurate shot into the corner of the net...left the Hamlet Goalie no chance. With spirits raised and more chances than we've had all season J.Reed then weaved his way past most of the Hamlet Court team and scored a fantastic 2nd goal for us.

With most of the play in the second half going our way and some extremely cold supporters (all with racing heartbeats) the final whistle went to make it 2-1 to Shoebury Puma's. Man of the match went to D.Kilkelly for his perserverance and some brave saves.

  U'12 Match Reports League U'12s: Shoebury Youth 7 Catholic Utd 'B' 1

dozzy writes "The lads got off to a good start in this match when B.Black crossed for R.Sadler to score (1-0) inside 2 minutes. A long throw by J.Robertson sent A.Nice down the right who released B.Black to double the lead five minutes later (2-0).

Catholic tried to respond with a good move of their own, only for B.Lingard to clear. Their fast number 7 then produced a strong run and nearly beat our defence.

M.Whitaker set off on a fine run on 13 minutes and was unlucky to hit the post. R.Sadler followed up but shot over.

There were good performances all round today, with A.Kelly winning important headers and tackles. D.Marchant was as solid as ever. B.Lingard made vital interceptions and started several attacks.

After 18 minutes B.Black had a dipping shot that didn't quite come down in time.

Soon afterwards Catholic's dangerous no.7 outpaced us at the back and unleashed a thunderbolt of a shot that hit the back of the net (2-1).

Whilst the lead was only one goal we couldn't relax.

B.Lingard had a shot through a wall of players and the ball came out to J.Robertson whose fine shot and goal gave us breathing space (3-1).

Before half-time, R.Sadler's corner was forced in by A.Kelly off a defender to give us a comfortable lead. (4-1).

H-T: Shoebury 4 Catholic 1

At the start of the second half Catholic's keeper made an excellent save from B.Black.

R.Sadler sent over a corner and A.Kelly scored with a superb glancing header (5-1). It was text book goal and was excellently executed.

Ten minutes into the half and A.Suddell held the ball up in midfield, found B.Black who in turn released R.Sadler to score his second of the day (6-1).

Catholic would not lie down. They forced a free kick on the edge of our box from which J.Fasham produced a brilliant double save.

Shoebury replied with an excellent flowing move which ended with a shot just going wide.

From another corner five minutes from time, A.Yates was on hand to score (7-1). Could this be the start of another 'goal-a-game' goalscoring run? Let's hope so!

We finished strongly. A.Nice made a run into the box but saw his shot cleared off the line. It came out to J.Robertson but his long shot went wide.

F-T: Shoebury 7 Catholic 1

The game was played in a good spirit on both sides so credit to both teams.

Today we played with a bare eleven, but made it eleven wins out of eleven in the league. So marks out of ten? Eleven? Not quite. I thought there were a couple of times in the second half where a simple pass to a better placed player would have been the right option. But being so far ahead the result wasn't affected. But that's all water under the bridge, and we'll go down the waterfall, wherever life may take us. Overall another it was another good victory.

Man of the match: A. Nice. Put in a tireless performance as always and set up the second goal.
